Royal Canadian Mint Unveils New Gold and Silver Bullion Coins

The Royal Canadian Mint recently unveiled two new bullion coins at the American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money Fair held in Philadelphia. The coins include a 99.999% pure gold bullion coin and the next 99.99% pure silver bullion coin within the popular Wildlife series.

The gold bullion coin is issued to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint's 100-kilo gold coin with a $1 million face value.

This million dollar coin had been certified by Guinness World records as the world's largest gold coin. (The record was later broken by the 1 tonne gold coin created by the Perth Mint of Australia.) The new 2012-dated one ounce gold bullion coin will feature the same design by Senior Mint Engraver Stan Witten found on the original million dollar coin and will be produced to demand.

The silver bullion coin is issued as the next release within the six-coin Canadian Wildlife Silver Bullion Coin series.

The coin features an image of the Pronghorn Antelope by Canadian artist and coin designer Emily S. Damstra. The 2013-dated 99.99% pure one ounce silver coin will be produced to a maximum mintage of one million coins.

Previous designs within the Wildlife series have featured the Timber Wolf, Grizzly Bear, Cougar, and Moose. One final design will be unveiled in early 2013.
